Mark comes from a family of Entrepreneurs.
When pitching Honda and Acura, Takuji Yamada, President of Honda, handed Mark Wenneker a miniature banner that read: "Marketer’s Dream." He’s carried that spirit with him ever since. Over the past 25 years, Wenneker has left a transformational mark on every agency he’s touched, leading teams, brands, and culture into new creative territory. At The Martin Agency, he helped modernize the agency’s voice, putting it on the international map with bold, provocative work for Saab and Mercedes-Benz.
At Goodby Silverstein, he created one of the most iconic car ads ever made — Saturn’s “Sheet Metal” — helped Doritos become a bona fide entertainment brand, and delivered dozens of offbeat, award-winning spots for Comcast, earning Campaign of the Year honors. He immersed himself in digital storytelling for brands like Hyundai and crafted meaningful cultural work for Budweiser’s TRUE campaign. Wenneker didn’t just make ads, he made brands matter.
As a creative leader at Mullen, he helped transform a small, scrappy New England shop into a national creative force, launching global platforms for Google, E*TRADE, JetBlue, American Greetings, Burger King, and Acura. He opened and led new offices in Boston, New York, San Francisco, North Carolina, and Los Angeles, helping Mullen scale while maintaining its creative edge.
Following Mullen’s merger into MullenLowe, Mark played a central role in redefining the agency’s vision as a global challenger boutique and was elected to the Global Executive Team. Under his leadership, the agency was named:
• Fast Company’s Most Innovative Company (alongside Ford)
• Ad Age A-List Agency (eight times)
• Creativity’s Innovator of the Year (twice)
His teams earned hundreds of international accolades, including:
• 15 Cannes Lions
• An Emmy for National Geographic
• Automotive Ad of the Year from The One Show (Acura)
• A Grand Effie for American Greetings’ “World’s Toughest Job” — a campaign that moved millions and became a cultural moment.
He also founded Yeti Productions, MullenLowe’s in-house, global content studio, helping brands scale storytelling across platforms. Beyond the business, Wenneker has been a creative ally to purpose-driven organizations like Change the Ref, the grassroots gun reform movement founded by the parents of Parkland shooting victim Joaquin Oliver.
In 2020, Mark shifted his focus from agency leadership to hands-on invention. He launched Sheet Metal Arts, a company exploring the next frontier of storytelling in the automotive and mobility space — a kind of Jetsons-meets-advertising lab. There, he’s led the launch of four electric vehicles and a revolutionary hydrofoil boat, blending design, tech, and narrative into brand platforms for the future.
His creative consultancy, The Agency of the Year LLC, helps agencies sharpen their positioning, win pivotal pitches, and works alongside startups to define their launch voice.
He feels more creative than he ever has.
Still making. Still crafting. Still dreaming.
